End of our first month 2009

Despite the best efforts of the political groups in Bangkok - and the totally over the top reporting by the media of the events, (Tourists face Terror’ and other such ridiculous headlines) we have seen few cancellations and I am delighted that the three groups from overseas who were due in December merely postponed and are on there way here next month.

But we did play host to several Bangkok schools - almost 100 P6s from Shrewsbury School in the first week of January, followed by 20 plus geographers and scientists from Bromsgrove School and then 80 Year 10s also from Shrewsbury.  All groups, were, as always, great.  The youngsters are amongst our favourites because of their sheer enthusiasm and excitement as for most this would be the first time or longest time they have been away from home.  However, this was matched by the Year 10s who had a week which included a hard hike, a day of cultural and teaching activities in a large school with mainly Burmese Shan students, plus team activities. Bromsgrove combined geography and biology studies with evening adventurous activities and even had time to do a morning’s English teaching in a Shan orphanage.  So thankfully, a great month and a brilliant beginning to 2009.

Hey Mr. Brian
We can’t wait for our trip out on the 12th. the new resort looks great and my kids have heard so much from past classes that they can’t wait. They have even been running a confidence course bootcamp to get ready!
Our Inquiry unit this year is on “Heroes” and we would really like to intervew you about the work you have done for Northern Thailand. You all are a perfect example of how people can make a difference.
See You Soon!
