Welcome

The MRV Project was set up in 1999, and is primarily focused on the Maekok River Village Outdoor Education Centre located in Chiang Mai Province, Northern Thailand.

The aim of the Project is to provide quality ‘out of school’ educational programmes in a region where historically it has been difficult for schools to access. The range of programmes offered is extensive, with the key elements being outdoor activities and academic fieldwork. Added to these two strands is our community project work, for there are many poorly funded schools which are in great need of assistance and indeed more and more schools are coming to the M.R.V.O.E.C. to undertake community projects.

We are also developing links in Laos and in China and due to demand, we have also broadened our offerings within Thailand. To this end, we have recently established programmes at Pang Soong Lodge near to Chiang Mai, and are also able to offer country-wide tours, as well as opportunities for diving on the island of Koh Tao.

We are delighted that so many schools have come to experience our programmes and enjoy our facilities. The M.R.V.O.E.C. has become a popular venue for students from not only within S. E. Asia, but also from Australia, the Middle East, North America and the United Kingdom.

We hope that this website will give you a good overview of what opportunities there are for students. However, having been a teacher for many years, we appreciate the problems and concerns when organising trips. Our central aim is to provide students with a valuable experience and to provide a level of service that will take the hassle away from hard-pressed teachers. Please make direct contact to discuss programme options, costings, logistics or any other issues which need to be considered.
